Brielle - Best of the 11-month-old photos

Brielle turns a year old this weekend! I'm making this entry a few days early because we'll be busy with family and birthday celebrations over the next few days. We can't believe she's going to be a year old!
I suspect that I say this every month, but this was an exciting month. Brielle has officially become a walker. She stands all the time and is very steady on her feet. She can even turn around without falling. The furthest she can walk at this point is about 20 feet. She often stops to smile and claps to applaud her accomplishments.
When she's holding our hands, or holding onto the walls of her Playzone, Brielle loves to run. This has allowed her to play "chase" games. Unfortunately she sometimes plays chase in the middle of a diaper change or when it's time to change her clothes...but it's so cute! Here she is playing with Grammy Barbara...
Brielle continues to enjoy physical play, like being thrown up in the air or bounced around. She loves crawling on top of us...
and being tickled...

And she loves getting phone calls from Grammy Barbara. We put her on speaker phone, and she recognizes her voice. At almost a year old, Brielle is still relatively bald, but her hair is showing some promise. There are even little curls now! Mommy is very jealous.
Today was Brielle's first day at daycare. It was definitely more difficult for us than it was for her. She immediately warmed up to the other babies and was fascinated by the new selection of toys to explore. Her teachers raved about how well she did. She played nicely with the other kids and didn't even cry or fuss. We're not surprised, but we were still worried about the transition since it was the first time she's been around a group of kids and the first time she hasn't been under the care of a familiar family member. She's going to be attending three days a week while I work part-time.

Up until now, Brielle has been coming to work with me. As she's gotten older and more mobile, I've needed to add more play space and more toys to keep her occupied. By the end, she had pretty much taken over my whole office!
The staff have gotten to know her well and were sad to see her go. We threw a good-bye celebration for her. I made a vegan lemon cake as a practice cake for her birthday this weekend. It was REALLY good. I also practiced with the cake decoration tools...

Most of the staff were on hand to say good-bye and congratulate Brielle on her graduation from work to daycare.
We're all looking forward to her first birthday celebration and visits from numerous family members this weekend!
