Getting cooler every day...
Except for a cold and some teething pain, Brielle had a fun month. She really knows what she likes now, and she has the verbal abilities to ask for it. A few times a day she tries to hand us her coat and says, "Side!" - her request to go outside. Sometimes it's too rainy, cold, or snowy, but other times we're able to indulge her.
"I go. Bye bye!"

Brielle is engaging in more complex play with her toys. She makes sure to put a safety hat on her friends before taking them for a ride.

With visits from both Grammy Barbara and Grandma Pat, this was a really fun month for Brielle. Grammy brought her fun gifts to play with. Sometimes she was more interested in the box at first.

It's a book about her best friend, Caillou!

Brielle showed Grammy how to use her slide.

"Surprise!"

Brielle also enjoyed a visit from Grandma Pat. Grandma took photos of Brielle, and Brielle knew to look for them on the back of her camera.

Brielle loved watching the fun animation on Grandma's camera when she threw a photo away. It showed the photo flying into a trash can and made an amusing "crunch!" sound.

I'm not sure if she remembered dancing with Grandma or not during their last visit, but all Grandma had to say was, "Let's dance!" and Brielle put on quite a show.

Grandma Pat brought early birthday gifts from her and Sue, including a glorious hat...

...and a dog that vibrates when its tail is pulled. This amused her for a long time.

However, she spent the most time playing with the Valentine's Day card the grandmas sent. When she opens it up, Alvin and the Chipmunks sing "Funky Town". She examined it for a long time to make sure she understood how it worked. Then she set it down on the table and started to boogie down.

When the music ended, she ran back over to the table and pushed a button to keep the party going.

We decided to take a day trip to the coast to show Brielle the Seaside Aquarium. It was an unusually pretty February day, with both snow on the trees and a sunny blue sky.
We stopped by Cannon Beach to take a walk out onto the sand.
It was cold, of course, but certainly a nice day for February in Oregon.

Next, we traveled to Seaside to check out the aquarium.
At the entrance, Brielle was thrilled by the seals. One swam up to her and gave her a big smile, resulting in many excited squeals from Brielle.
Brielle loves seeing fish in aquariums, but she was absolutely fascinated by a huge orca sculpture hanging on the ceiling. She kept running out of the aquarium area to marvel at it.

She got to put her hands in some water and touch a starfish.
