This has been an exciting month for Ronan. By 8 1/2 months he was crawling all over the house. He can also pull himself up to a standing position while holding onto something. Being able to move around on his own has increased his self-confidence and joy. Before, he would tend to cry helplessly when he fell down and didn't seem very motivated to move around on his own. But as soon as he developed his new abilities, he got really excited and proud and boldly tries to explore everywhere he can get to, squealing with joy.
Ronan's new abilities have made him more exciting to Brielle. She's amused by his antics and includes him as a playmate in more activities. Every once in a while she gets a little frustrated that he inserts himself where he's not supposed to be, but most of the time she thinks he's a lot of fun. We realize that as time goes on she'll start to become frustrated with him getting into her stuff, but for now she's just amused by it. For example, he pulled out some of her drawings (and tried to eat them, of course), but her reaction was to laugh and say, "Mommy! Look what Ronan found!"
At his 9-month pediatrician appointment yesterday, he measured 28 1/4" tall (50th percentile) and weighed 19 lbs. 8 oz. (they wrote down the weight wrong, so I don't know the correct percentile). Except for his chronic nose breathing problems, he's a happy boy. He's had a couple appointments with an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor, but the nose drops we tried didn't work, so we're still trying to get a diagnosis. We're waiting on results from a food allergy test. If that doesn't tell us anything useful, he may need to get scans from the ENT. We'll keep everyone updated.
