Two weekends ago, Grammy, Kelly, and little doggie, Emmett, came for a several day visit!
Brielle told them about her recent gold medal win at a local Taekwondo competition and showed them the video.

Then she demonstrated her poomse for them.
Ronan has been getting more interested in martial arts recently. The
kids want to watch the (new) Karate Kid movie over and over, and Ronan's
favorite activity right now is to "spar" with Brielle. He starts by
lifting one knee into the air and slowly moving his arms up over his
head, then he jumps into a fighting stance with his little fists in
front of him. It's super cute, so hopefully I can get a video of it
posted soon. Of course we have to keep a close eye on them to remind
them that their sparring should be "no contact" and that the purpose of
Taekwondo is not to attack or hurt another person.
We spent a lot of time playing at home because the weather was a little rainy. Grammy and Kelly helped a lot by watching the kids while Kraig and I took some breaks to get things done and have a nice dinner out. But on a nice day we got out to downtown Portland to visit the Chinese Garden.

Look - Proof that I was there! Thanks for the photo, Grammy!
We took a break to enjoy some tea and snacks in the tea house.
Of course, at some point the kids started getting a little wild. But overall they were really good. At what age do restaurants get easy?!
The garden visit was really lovely and fun. Afterwards we walked along the waterfront for a while and briefly visited the huge Portland Saturday Market.
On Monday, we played hookey. With both kids in school, the adults and Emmett snuck out to wine country for a beautiful day of wine tasting and incredible views. Thank you, Grammy, Kelly, and Emmett, for a fantastic visit!
