On Labor Day weekend, Grammy and Kelly came to visit! This gave me and Kraig the opportunity to spend the night in wine country. The Black Walnut Inn was beautiful, up on a hill with amazing views.

Our room had a balcony overlooking the vineyards.
We also enjoyed spending time with Grammy and Kelly, of course.
Later in September we always look forward to Oktoberfest. There are two main celebrations that we attend. The big one is in Mt. Angel, south of Portland, with several beer halls with live music, food and art vendors on the streets, and even a glockenspiel at the town's center. Some years, like this one, we decided to get a babysitter and make this a "grown-up" trip.
The second Oktoberfest is a smaller celebration at Oaks Amusement Park, right across the river. We always take the kids to this one.
We went back and forth between the Oktoberfest dance halls in the middle of the amusement park and the rides.

One of the best parts of Oktoberfest is watching our kids and other cute little kids having fun out on the dance floor. Unfortunately, Ronan didn't want to dance. Brielle kept trying to encourage him, but he seemed to be too shy. So Kraig and I took turns dancing with her.
