Brielle is 7 months old today! This was a fun month, and I've already posted a couple entries with 6-month-old photos, but here are some of our other favorite moments.
Brielle had several exciting developments this month. At the very beginning of this month, we discovered a tooth! By the end of the month she had two (both at the bottom). Even though she probably didn't need to use them for it, we did start her on solid foods. So far it's just been one meal a day, but she's really enjoying "eating like a big girl". She's mastered rice cereal, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, and carrots. It's a very messy endeavor, but she's having fun and actually seems to enjoy eating the portions that don't end up on her face, on her head, on her hands, on the floor, or on Mommy.
Another exciting development this month was that Brielle figured out how to sit up on her own! To her frustration, she hasn't yet figured out how to crawl forward. Despite great efforts on her part, she is only able to crawl backwards. However, about a week ago she crawled back a bit, stuck a leg out to her side, and eased back into a firm sitting position. This was accompanied by a look of fantastic self-satisfaction, a huge grin, and a shrieking laugh.
Brielle's laughter has also become more developed. It's changed from something that sounded more like a cough with a smile to a wide mouth grin and "ha ha"-type shriek.
She laughs when in her Jumperoo, when she sees a loved one from across the room, when Daddy plays peek-a-boo, or when she sees Icky nearby. She's absolutely fascinated with Icky and will stop whatever she's doing when he gets near her. Icky is very patient with her. He even visits her every once in a while, even though he knows he risks being grabbed due to her enthusiasm. Brielle just loves him.
Brielle hasn't been babbling much lately, unfortunately. The doctor said this is common for babbling to slow down while babies focus on new physical abilities. Still, we're really looking forward to hearing her sweet little voice again. She still makes a "talking face", where she's focused on our lips and seems like she wants to talk. Her lips move a little when listening to me sing. Here's her "talking face":
