Last weekend we celebrated the long holiday weekend at Grammy and Kelly's house in Bandon.

Brielle was reunited with cousin Stella, who is now 1 year 7 months old.

There were a couple moments of jealousy, mostly when Stella took control of the "ted bear" Brielle loves. But for the vast majority of the time the two got along great.

Brielle gave Stella advice about how to show the doggies love.

Stella got a little shocked when Rosie gave her a kiss.

The weather was beautiful, and each girl had a dog to walk.

The main celebration during our visit was a baby shower for Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tim. Another cousin is on the way (due on Christmas)!

The theme of the shower was "A Star is Born", since Kelly and Tim live in LA.

The cake featured an (edible) photo of Kelly as a baby - pretty amazing...

Kelly and Tim were pleasantly surprised.

We played games, ate great food, drank very good Pinot Noir (or juice) and had a great time.

Brielle wasn't used to seeing Grammy holding a different baby.

"That's MY Grammy!"

Finally, it was time for Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tim to open gifts for the new cousin. Brielle gave them a Florida Gators onesie (both Mommy and Uncle Tim were Gators).

Brielle loves opening gifts, and when she sees gift bags in any occasion she assumes they're for her. Luckily Kelly and Tim were very nice about letting her help.

Brielle became concerned about a helium balloon that got loose and traveled up to the tall ceiling. It was sad and cute at the same time.

The next day, we headed out to the local animal park to see a ton of fun animals. This was our first visit there, and it was a hit for the little girls.

Unlike the regular zoo, many animals were walking free.

Others were in cages but easily seen, including some of Brielle's favorite animals, like tigers and bears.

I liked these Goth sheep.

Look! It's proof that Mommy was actually there! I don't appear in many photos since I'm usually behind the camera. (Thanks, Daddy!)

Brielle's favorite animal is probably the penguin, and there weren't any there. But she did show everyone how to walk like a penguin.

In a really funny moment, a chimp stuck out his tongue at Stella...

...and she copied his every move, sticking out her tongue at him and copying his expressions.

The animal park was a great experience, and we'll definitely return.

We finished off our Bandon visit by walking into the woods to discover a surprise for the girls created by Grammy and Kelly.

They had attached a swing to a tree. What fun!

The visit to Bandon is always a lot of fun for Brielle. Grammy and Kelly have plenty of toys to play with and clothes for playing dress-up (even if they weren't necessarily intended for that purpose).

We were really happy that Brielle enjoyed playing with Stella so much.

Brielle is always sad to leave family, but she seems to understand that visits are fun but come to an end. She had a really good nap in the car on the drive home. But Brielle actually got to see Cousin Stella, Aunt Amy, and Uncle Todd a few days later when they drove up to Portland on their way to Seattle. She was happy to see Stella again and didn't seem to mind at all that Stella was playing with her toys.

In fact, it was fun to have a friend to push her on her trike.

The cousins had a great time playing in the backyard. This ended up being a kind of strange shot - it looks like Stella is lifting up a mini-Brielle!

"Thanks for the fun, Cousin Stella! I can't wait to meet my new cousin in December!"
