Ronan is 2 weeks old

Ronan turned two weeks old yesterday. His sleep habits are getting a little better at night, and we're seeing more of him in an awake state with his eyes open during the day. He isn't playing with toys yet, but he likes looking around and he loves being held and looking into people's eyes.

At his 2-week pediatrician appointment, they checked to make sure he had gotten back up to his birth weight of 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Amazingly, he had not only gained that weight back, but he added an extra pound above that! Our concerns about whether he was getting enough to eat were alleviated. He's already outgrown a couple outfits and is now almost fitting in outfits that looked pretty big for him when he was born.

Meanwhile, Brielle continued to enjoy the visit from Grammy and Kelly. She helped Kelly make homemade tortillas for burritos.

And she played with gifts she received from family and friends, including body crayons...

...and a trampoline...

The weather's been wonderful in July, so we enjoyed a BBQ with Grammy and Kelly.

We've been enjoying the developments we've been seeing in just these first two weeks with Ronan. So many things he does remind us about the cute things Brielle did as a baby. For example, he's now making cute infant noises, like cooing and grunting.

He also recently started sleeping with his hands up behind his head, like Brielle used to do. And he has other expressions and movements like she used to have. It's so fun to see them again.

Ronan sleeps in a "Snuggle Nest" in the bed between us. I love it when he wakes me up by reaching over and grabbing at my face.
Right after Grammy and Kelly left, Grandma Pat and Grandma Sue came for a fun visit. Despite all the special attention from the three grandmas, Brielle recently started feeling upset about the baby situation. She's getting less of Mommy's time, and this is causing her to cry for Mommy at night and misbehave during the day. We suspected this would happen at some point. Luckily she's never taken out her frustration on him. She continues to talk about how cute he is and gently pets his head.

We're trying to help her feel better by doing activities with her away from Ronan, like going to the park.

One thing that's happened, which is fortunate timing, is that she's finally getting really interested in being social with other kids. She's happy now when I drop her off at school, and at the park she'll run around happily with another little girl she finds and isn't as attached to me.

But if there are no kids around, she goes back to expecting Mommy or Grandma to be her playmate. She enjoyed pushing Grandma Pat down the slide many times.

Grammy Barbara, Kelly, Grandma Pat, and Grandma Sue helped us out a lot by taking care of Brielle early in the morning and holding Ronan when he needed personal contact. (Thank you so much!!!) We mostly had to hang out around the house since Ronan is too young to go out in public, but we had fun doing things like laughing together while watching the Olympics opening ceremony.

Here are a couple attempts at a first family photo...
