Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Brielle is really into holidays now. She likes to report on when they're going to happen: "Mommy, it's not Christmas anymore. Valentine's Day is next, then my birthday is next!" Today she enjoyed a Valentine's Day celebration at school, especially the candy, of course.

At home the kids opened gifts from the grandmas. Brielle helped Ronan play with his.

Hey - did you notice the Tinker Bell outfit? Brielle is really into Tinker Bell and fairies right now. She watches the movies over and over. She talks about flying like a fairy, but luckily she understands that the wings on the outfit are "pretend", so she wasn't disappointed when she put them on.

She's also into princesses and ballerinas. It's amazing how girls can get automatically drawn to these things, even without parental encouragement. I'm sure TV and school help out in this regard too. But it's really fun that she loves dressing up and trying out different characters and personalities. She still dresses up as superheroes sometimes too.

And, of course, Ronan loves watching Brielle have fun. Brielle has been so good with Ronan, playing with him more often and asking for him when he's not in the room. When she had her full Spider Man outfit on, the headpiece was completely covering her face. She carefully walked up to Ronan, lifted the mask, and said, "Don't worry, Ronan. It's just me."

Speaking of Ronan...our little guy is 7 months old today! One exciting development of this past month has been his ability to sit up on his own. This means we can sit him down and he can interact with Brielle, grab toys, and be happy. He still gets sad if we leave the room, but he's getting stronger and more independent. When he falls over, sometimes he lies there and cries helplessly, and sometimes he immediately flips over onto his belly and lifts his chest up. He's not crawling yet, but the past couple of days he's started to make some of the movements. He's still more interested in standing up, so we imagine he might have the motivation to walk early, like his sister.

Ronan is still enjoying eating solid foods, although a few times he's gotten picky (particularly with vegetables). He wants to control the spoon himself, with very messy results if we let him do it. He can hold his own bottle for the most part. He likes it when Mommy sings...which she does until Brielle points out, "Mommy...there's NO music..." (I can take a hint). Ronan loves peek-a-boo and putting everything in his mouth. We think that some of his upset moments have been due to teething. He still has his two teeth on the bottom, and ones on top seem to be breaking through now. His eyes are still blue, and his hair looks like it's going to be light blonde, although it seems to change color in different lights, just like Brielle's.

We feel like we're enjoying a really special time, where Brielle is a really cute little person who is excited about so many different things and says a lot of funny stuff. Ronan is adorable, happy, and really starting to enjoy his surroundings and family. Brielle is old enough to move around the house independently, yet Ronan isn't mobile enough to get into trouble yet.
