Last weekend, Grandma Pat came for a visit!
We had planned a family trip to the local Dahlia festival, but it was forecasted to rain all weekend (after no rain for weeks!). Grandma Pat arrived Friday morning, so she and I decided to run out there by ourselves to walk through the fields before they became muddy. Unfortunately the kids were in school and couldn't join us. Like every year, it was absolutely amazing!
I had never heard of dahlias before we moved to Oregon. There are many different colors, shapes, and sizes - some as large as a foot across.

My favorites are the bright pink-orange-yellow ones with wild, spiky petals.

I also like the ones with neon-colored flowers and contrasting blackish leaves.
Grandma Pat likes the ones shaped like perfect pom-poms.
The weekend did end up to be rainy off and on, so we mostly played around the house and went out for dinners. Grandma Pat took care of the kids in the morning so we got to sleep in! Yay! She and Kraig recently had birthdays, so they also got to open some belated gifts. The kids gave Grandma Pat earrings and chocolates from Bandon.
The kids were so happy to spend time with Grandma Pat. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
