On Friday, I took the kids to a pumpkin patch as part of a field trip for Ronan's school. Brielle had a day off from school, so it worked out perfectly for her to come with us.
Lakeview Farms Pumpkin Patch is a few minutes west of Portland, and it was absolutely beautiful. The day was overcast, but the early morning fog over the bright orange field of pumpkins with the lake background was absolutely beautiful.
Before heading out the pumpkin fields, the kids enjoyed looking at the farm animals. There were pigs and goats on the left and right, but all the kids were completely focused on playing with the really cute kittens in the little cages.

This particular pumpkin patch is really fun in that you get to take a train to the pumpkins then take boat back. Ronan loves trains, so he was really excited to come aboard.
When we arrived, the kids had a good amount of time to play on the haystack slide, the haystack maze, and the pumpkin field.
We were allowed to take three small pumpkins home with us.
Before leaving, the kids begged for a pony ride (and got one, for a little extra money). They really loved it. Luckily neither of them has ever asked about actually owning pony.

To me, the experience was a little funny and surreal. The ride was run by a family of very disinterested-looking people who placed the kids on ponies then turned on a boom box to "Life is a Highway...I wanna ride it, all night long..."
After finding three pumpkins, we boarded the boat to return to the entrance.
The boat ride had some cheesy but fun surprises, like animals that popped out of the water.
Yesterday the kids came up with three great pumpkin designs!
