Hood River train ride

Last weekend, we took a day trip up to Hood River, Oregon, along the Columbia River at the northern end of Oregon. We surprised the kids with a 2-hour, scenic train ride! Ronan still loves trains.

Brielle likes to make funny faces in photos - she had a good time too.

When we picked up our tickets at the station, the lady told us that she had upgraded us to the "dome car" with second-story views! Nice way to travel.

The scenery was pretty. It started off with river views, then we went through fruit orchards and deep into the countryside.

Brielle took a picture of me.

A meal was included, and we were fortunate that they had a very tasty vegan option. I love Oregon.

The train went south for about 45 minutes, then we had a 30-minute stop to get out and walk around in Odell...and that's pretty much all there was to do there. That's okay. It gave the kids a chance to play on the tracks and view the train cars up close.

It was great to see the kids enjoying the train and a pleasant get-away for all of us.
