The kids haven't seen friends in at least three weeks, Brielle didn't get to have a birthday party with friends, and out-of-the-house activities they've requested were slowly taken away as options. One bright spot was that our local beach was still open and pretty much undiscovered by spring break tourists. We went several times in perfect weather and with ocean water that was warm enough to swim in. It was always an amazingly beautiful breath of fresh air.
Besides challenging the crashing waves, the kids were excited to find little warm rivers and lakes that had formed on the sand. They ran and ran...
Brielle exclaimed that it was her "favorite beach day ever". They were so happy and positive.

The kids' "virtual school" began yesterday. But for the past week the kids have enjoyed preparing the "classroom" they'd use when it started. If you look closely, you'll see that each of their stuffed toy friends has a desk, and Brielle and Ronan set up special, comfy seating areas for themselves. Again, they were so positive and happy.
We had TWO tornado warnings in our county early evening tonight. I kept an ear on the news and didn't say anything to the kids. Luckily they were quickly cancelled. The kids saw the dark clouds rolling in and started shouting with joy when the rain started coming down. It hasn't rained here in a really long time, and the kids wanted to experience every moment of it. They ran into the pool area and jumped for joy in the rain. I set up "dance party" for them out there so they could dance to music and eat snacks while they celebrated the weather.
Brielle reported that it was her "favorite dance party".
We worry about what these months of coronavirus will mean for the kids' happiness. So far they've been amazing, and they're bringing happiness to the whole family.
