Connecting with local nature

During this time, we've made efforts to get outside regularly to take walks, ride bikes, or ride scooters, usually around our neighborhood. Brielle and I have enjoyed using our cameras to take pictures of blooming flowers and neighborhood animals. I love when a random large bird walks through the yard...

There are now two snakes who live under our back patio. The first one was a large black racer named, "Barbosa" (after a race car driver who usually drives a black car). Last summer the kids found a tiny black snake, so we assumed Barbosa had a baby. It was so small that they actually had to help it escape from a lizard that had its eyes on it. We're wondering if this baby is the smaller snake that now lives in the hole next door to Barbosa. We named him "Albuquerque" (another driver). Recently, each of them left evidence of their existence under our hibiscus plants.

 

Yesterday we drove across the river to a park we like. We only saw a few people and didn't have to cross paths with any of them. The kids rode scooters.

 

This afternoon we visited our tadpole friends again. We think they're growing tiny legs, but they haven't grown in size (3/4"), so maybe they're going to be tiny frogs.
