Our Halloween fun started at the very beginning of October when Daddy set up the "Halloween Room" in the Library. All month the kids have enjoyed going in there to see the howling, glowing ghost, the mysterious faces that appear in different vessels, the people paintings that change to skeletons at certain angles, the book with a feather pen that writes by itself, and Ronan's favorite, "spider books!" (a spider that jumps out of a stack of books). They'll be sad to see the decorations go...but the "Christmas Room" is just around the corner.
Amazingly, Brielle did NOT decide to be Elsa from Frozen (like many 5-year-old girls). She instead decided to be a mermaid she called "Ari-Opal", which is a combination of two mermaids: Ariel (with red hair) and Opal (with blue hair).
Since Ronan's been into robots for a while, we decided to dress him up as one. Here's the one and only shot of him wearing the head piece...

The weekend before Halloween, we decided to host a Halloween party with just a few friends. Kraig's friends from work, Charles and Candace, brought their three kids: Tatum, Henry, and Jack. One of my friends from work, Barbara, brought her daughter, Alaska.
The kids enjoyed visiting the Halloween Room.
We also came up with some Halloween-themed games and prizes.
Brielle decorated one of the tombstones for the musical tombstones game.

One really fun activity was indoor trick-or-treating. The adults waited behind 10 decorated doors around the house and gave out candy to the kids when they knocked. (We'll go to a nearby neighborhood to do some "real" trick-or-treating for a while tonight, but I'll probably be holding umbrellas and unable to take photos.)
This morning, the kids at Ronan's school enjoyed their annual tradition of going trick-or-treating around the shopping center by the school. There were some super-cute outfits.
